Denver Recreation Centers are closed on city-observed holidays. Outdoor pools close during inclement weather when lightning is nearby or temperatures are forecasted to remain below 65 degrees. Emergency closures for unexpected maintenance, power outages, etc. may not be posted online unless they are expected to last for a significant portion of the day. When possible, such service interruptions will be posted here. To verify center schedules and hours of operation, please call the facility directly.
As of summer 2026: Outdoor pool temporarily closed
During routine pre-season maintenance, Denver Parks and Recreation staff discovered significant structural issues causing the Aztlan Outdoor Pool to lose more than 16,000 gallons of water each day. After a thorough evaluation, it became clear that the pool cannot be safely operated in its current condition.
We understand this news will be disappointing for the many families, children, and residents across Northwest Denver who rely on the pool each summer. For generations, the Aztlan Outdoor Pool has been more than a place to cool off, it has been a gathering place where children learn to swim, families spend time together, and neighbors build community.
Funding has already been identified through the voter-approved Vibrant Denver Bond to fully replace the outdoor pool. This investment will deliver a modern, reliable aquatic facility that can serve the community for decades to come. Denver Parks and Recreation is actively exploring opportunities to accelerate the project timeline and move construction forward as quickly as possible.
While the replacement project is underway, nearby public pools, including Ashland and Berkeley Pool, will remain open throughout the summer. The community will continue to receive updates as information becomes available regarding the project timeline and next steps.
Since opening in 1982, the Aztlan Outdoor Pool has served generations of Northwest Denver families. We are grateful for the community's patience and partnership as we work to deliver a new facility that meets the needs of the neighborhood for years to come.
